Meet Alina!

Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences @ McMaster University

I’m Alina, a first year at McMaster University pursuing a degree in Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences. With a lifelong love of biology and creation, I found my place in the field of health tech, where the two come together and intertwine. Through my education and career, I aim to dive right into the industry to produce and refine accessible technology that makes our daily lives easier. When I’m not busy studying physics, I enjoy drawing and writing!

Meet Donald!

Computer Science @ University of British Columbia

Donald is a first year UBC Science student aiming to major in Computer Science. He self-taught himself coding in Grade 9 and is passionate about tech start-ups and creating projects to make lives easier. Previously, he volunteered at Youth Helping Youth BC as the Head of IT, where he organized YouthHacks 2022, a beginner-friendly hackathon to inspire youth to get into STEM. He even founded a coding club where he led various coding activities and workshops to teach students how to code and create what he wished existed when he started coding. Donald is currently a developer at nwPlus, a UBC club leading Western Canada's largest hackathons, and will soon launch his Chrome Extension Provent to help students stop procrastination and become more productive. You can find Provent on Instagram at @proventextension! When Donald is not coding, he can be found hanging out with friends or watching anime and k-dramas!

Meet Hakan!

Computer Science @ Carleton University

Hey! I’m Hakan Khan. I was born in Pakistan and immigrated to Canada when I was 5 years old. Fun fact: My dad used to count to me in binary when I was a toddler! I love software and robotics and assembled one of the first 3D printers in Canada when I was in grade 6. I love software and robotics and assembled one of the first 3D printers in Canada when I was in grade 6. I am studying computer science (software engineering stream) at Carleton University and am proficient at full stack web development, firmware development, and advanced manufacturing via 3D printers and CNC / laser cutters. Additionally, I am experienced with multiple computer programming languages, including C++, Python, Javascript, Html + CSS. I recently founded RxPal (rx-pal.com) to provide technology solutions to make it easier for patients to stick to the drug plan prescribed by their doctors. My goal is to make this affordable so it benefits the maximum number of people.

Meet Lucas!

Computer Engineering @ University of British Columbia

Hi! My name is Lucas Zafran and I am beginning my first year at The University of British Columbia (UBC). I plan on studying engineering, and specifically majoring in Computer Engineering. I feel honoured to be earning this amazing scholarship, and I plan on using it to fund my studies in order to help my plan of making technology readily available to all who are interested. I hope to make my time worthwhile at UBC and hope to leave a sustainable and conscientious engineer ready to better the world!
