Attending Clubs and Societies Days (also known as “the club fair”) is a great place to start. During the club fair, clubs and societies will set up booths the the Student Life Centre where club representatives can present their club to you. Attending the club fair is a great way to discover clubs that interest you and be able to ask questions to current members and executives of the club. Clubs and Societies Days happen each term on the Thursday and Friday of the second week of classes. You can confirm the exact date on the WUSA clubs important dates website
Another place to find clubs is to search on the club listing. The club listing usually includes the club’s social media accounts you can follow for club information such as meeting times.
After you’ve found clubs you are interested in, all that’s left is to show up at the club meetings! Some clubs will require a small membership fee to join but many are completely free.
We’ve talked a lot about WUSA, the undergraduate student association. As an undergrad student at Waterloo, you’ll automatically be a member of WUSA. That means you can run for election to the student council, senate, or various other student government positions. Find out more on the WUSA elections page. Based on your program, you will also be a part of student societies such as MathSoc and EngSoc. Societies support students belonging to their respective programs. Each student society also looks to fill volunteer roles and elected positions in order to maintain operations.
